ABOUT OUR CHURCH

Our History

Christ Church started as a mission at Easter in 1863, was designated a parish in October, 1863, and consecrated in 1868.  The English Gothic building on Main Street was designed by the noted architech Richard Upjohn.
Beginning in the 1920's and over the next decades, a chancel, sanctuary, and Norman-stype chapel were added.  A Tudor building, with space for offices, church school, and choir replaced the original Rectory, completing enclosure of a full block in the middle of the city.  The nave contains beautiful stained-glass windows and a fine pipe organ.
