Girls’ Friendly Society Scholarship Fund
The goal of the Scholarship Fund is to assist young people who are leading Christian lives and are active in their church while receiving their education. Therefore, the Vestry expects all recipients to commit to attending worship regularly and/or take part in some ministry which lifts up Jesus Christ or serves others in His name, while at school.
The other requirements are:
the recipient must be an active member of Christ Church, Fitchburg, MA if attending school within the local area (whether or not living at home or at school);
attending Church regularly if residing at a non-local school;
the recipient must be under the age of 24 and attending college as an undergraduate student or a post-secondary vocational school;
the completed application with all supporting documents must be received by the deadline of April 24, 2026. The application packet consists of the initial application form, and one clergy reference form which can be downloaded. If you feel that you qualify under these rules, we invite you to apply.
The Committee wishes to make it clear that the resources available for these scholarships are limited and that fairness to all applicants requires that these resources be extended only to those qualifying who submit completed applications by the April 24th deadline.
Awarded scholarships are issued in two installments, each in the amount of one half the total grant. The first installment will be sent to the school in August. A o mid-year renewal verification is required for the second installment . This form is self-explanatory and must be submitted by December 15, 2026. When we receive this form the second installment will be released to the school in January. It is important for recipients to understand that it will not be sent unless we have received the renewal verification form by the deadline. No further notice or reminders will be given for the mid-year verification. It is entirely the recipient’s responsibility to see that the mid-year verification is received by the deadline.
